Surfari is hosting their "5th Annual Surf Trip" to southern Brazil. This trip is designed to teach adults about Brazilian lifestyle and surf culture. If you already know how to surf, then we will surf with you and take you to many of the secret spots we have discovered around this area. If you want to learn how to surf or improve your skills, you may do so in front of our surf camp that is open to the public daily for surf lessons and surfboard rentals.
Ferrugem Beach:
Ferrugem is a tropical beach town and fishing community that is located ninety minutes south of the Florianopolis Airport. This area is one of the best places in Brazil to relax, unwind and take it easy. The waves are fun during the summer months of January and February and average between 3-4 feet. The surf breaks on a sandy bottom and the water temperature is around 70-76 degrees. In addition to our local beach, we will travel to many other beaches and explore the natural beauty of the land, ocean and people.
Your Hosts:
Surfari Surf Instructors Rick Gehris & Paola Langsch will be your hosts. Paola
is a native from southern Brazil. She grew up in this area and knows where to go
and what to do. Rick discovered Ferrugem during a surf trip to Brazil in 1997.
When he discovered the place, he fell in love with the quality of life. Once you
visit this area, you will experience the uplifting energy of the people, land and surf.
As your tour guides, our goal is to help you experience a vacation that leaves you with
memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.
Typical Day:
You will start your day with a continental style breakfast that your hotel serves
every morning from 8AM-10AM. After breakfast, you will walk to our surf camp on the
beach and meet up with your hosts. At that time, we will invite you to surf, take a
lesson or just relax on the beach. Your schedule will be flexible and you will have
plenty of opportunities to explore various beaches and towns. At night, the town
comes alive with concerts, parties, shopping, restaurants and bars.
Surf Trip Options: 7 days and 6 nights
- Option 1: Single/private room-$1100
- Option 2: Shared room/2 people -$850 per person
- Option 3: Bring a tent & camp out in our backyard on the river- $500 per person
Cost Includes:
- Accommodations/Breakfast
- Ride to and from Florianopolis airport
- Surfboards and surf lessons
- Guided tours to surrounding beaches, towns,restaurants, and nightlife
- Help with exchanging money and translation services.
All surf trips require a $100 security deposit paid via credit card 14 days before your surf trip begins. You may e-mail rick@surfarisurf.com with credit card info or call us at 858-337-3287. Cash - Full payment for 1 week in US dollars to Rick or Paola when you are picked up at Florianopolis Airport
You will need:
- Spending money- around $500 for lunch, dinner, food, drinks, and shopping.
- To purchase a round trip ticket to Florianopolis Airport (FLN Hercilio Luz Airport.)
